My title has fallen from Super-Mom to Barf-Magnet.

Gideon is sick, sick, sick and it SUUUUUCKS.

Basically the poor little guy has kept nothing down since Friday night {no matter which end it decides to come out of… *ahem*} so he’s been living on popsicles. Only now, he doesn’t even want popsicles anymore. He just wants to eat because he thinks his aching tummy is just a hungry tummy and how do I explain to him that everything he eats {even chicken noodle soup broth} ends up in the barf bucket? And more importantly, how do I explain that he’s not SUPPOSED to eat ‘til tomorrow???

Pretty much I don’t. I cave to any of his requests just so he won’t cry. We watch Toy Story and Cars and Diego and Madagascar and eat dum-dums, saltine crackers, and munch ice chips while we camp out in the living room. And I sit there.. holding him and holding the bucket.

From this experience I’ve learned two things:

1. I could NEVER be a nurse. (A giant shout out to all of you who are. You’re seriously angels.) I’m just gonna come right out and say that the only people I’ll ever hold a barf bucket for are my hubby and the tots. Because THAT right there is true love my friends!

2. I really hate puke.

Little-Man is napping now, so I’m catching up on laundry and sanitizing everything in my house.

*A nice lady (she really was nice)  from Children’s Mercy to us Gideon has the ‘G1 rotavirus.’  and was also told that he would “have hellish diarrhea” and that “hopefully he’ll quit vomiting in a day or two.”   (her news just wasn’t)              Thank. You.

Whatever you've done to your picture uploading is driving me crazy. insane. batty. LOCO. I can't get my pictures to go where I want them to go for the life of me. And that in turn effects where the text goes. Nothing is right. It's just a mess.

I just want you to know that Live Writer kicks your trash. It makes my life easier and I luuuurve it. I can type a post up exactly as I want it, edit my pictures to perfect size, add watermarks, and fancy things up all in one place. And what do you know it publishes it right to this here blog for me and LOOKS how it's supposed to. No tricks. No confusion.

I'll be using it from now on. {Don't worry... we can still be friends.}

You all know we’re big 24 fans. Jack Bauer is sort of a big deal around our house. And since 24 isn’t currently on TV and we’re stuck watching TV that makes you laugh (aka GLEE) instead of makes you want to own a gun {who knew!?} we have to fill the void somehow…

Recently we’ve been doing that by visiting what I like to call…

“CTU: Toddler Boot Camp”

Training begins with a few (and by few I mean 50) one handed pushups.

Which is then followed by both rappelling and scaling walls with nothing but your BARE HANDS and a conveniently placed rope. {LOOK! How handy!}

“I don’t know about this Mom.”

“You will climb this and you WILL LIKE IT.”

As you can see, the drill sergeant tone pays off. Scaling “walls” with a smile.

After that we do a little “one-on-one” combat training with Dad…
“Stay low.”

“Go after the legs.”

“If all else fails a roundhouse kick to the face will ALWAYS work.”

Which is then followed by an introduction to torture techniques….

“Hey… this isn’t so bad.”

“Oh, Just you wait son…”

(Please note Jake’s face: Proof that as parents we really do enjoy torturing our kids)

“Okay, Okay, I’ll do whatever you want. Just please, STOP THE SPINNING!!!!!!”

 

 

***No  children were harmed during this training session. If you want to get all technical you can ACTUALLY call it “playing at grandma’s house,” but I don’t think that’s nearly as clever, so whatev!

Jake is home with the kids and what do I get when I get back????

It's a quick one. I just couldn't resist sharing.

While I catch you up!!! WAYYYY back on labor day weekend, we went camping. It was nice to really "rough" it for a weekend.

Okay, Okay so we might have camped in my SIL's yard and called her house the "lodge." BUT, we did sleep in tents and had dinner and breakfast cooked on the fire. So, in my opinion it counts! We rode around on the motorcycle and the go-karts and had an all around BLAST.















Something CRAZY happened though. I fell in love with Jake's Trail Bike. So much so that when I
said I wanted one, and he said, "Look on Craigslist." that I did and we bought ANOTHER ONE. See, that's her in the picture up there. I call her Betsey and let's just say she's getting QUITE a makeover. Jake assures me she'll be done this weekend in time for round 2 of our camping excursions, so I'll share pictures of her new look then. But my boys have been hard at work... SEE!


















Gideon is quite the helper as you can tell.

Hey all!

I hope you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! We sure did around here. Unfortunately, I now have to spend the EN.TIRE.DAY cleaning my house that was neglected over the holiday.

For a wrap-up: I bought something REALLY AWESOME... and we went CAMPING... and I have lots of great pictures to share after I finish uploading and editing.

Until then, here is my latest jewelry creation:

So this is as far as I've gotten on Ashelyn's room. I know, I know... So much left to do. I still need to hang her letters, and make something like this:
(only I hate the polka dots on the houndstooth... TOO BUSY.) to hold all of her hair bows. Also in the works is refinishing the crib, making a new pillowcase & quilt, spray-painting a lamp & revamping the shade, and I'm also on the hunt for a cool rug. Also, the flower thing that is dangling above her crib is going to be joined with more in various sizes and colors as well as a paper lantern or two for fun.

Gideon's room is about to be tackled as well! Jake is going to build him a loft bed and he's going to have an EXPLORER theme. It's gonna rock. I love projects!

Did anyone else ever watch Kenan & Kel??? Man, this picture brought me right back to myself as an annoying 13 year old going, "I do, I do, I do-oooo!" (Either you get me, or you don't.)

I know it's been a long time coming, but after MUCH anticipation and lots and lots of work....

I give you.... the fully restored 1972 Honda Ct-70 Trail Bike.

So here's the deal... Ashelyn doesn't have a dresser.

The only drawers she has to hold ALL. HER. CLOTHES. are the two found at the bottom of the changing table that was given to us a few months after she was born. I didn't snap a before picture (Why? Because this happened during my no camera phase.) but let me lay it out there for you.

1. It was made of white MDF.
2. It had the most hideous gold plastic handles in the history of the world.
3. It was a giant blessing at the time.

How it stayed in it's original form until Ashelyn was 14 months old is BEYOND me. If anything I could have just changed those REDONKULOUS handles. But, I didn't. And that brings us to the present.

My sister in law Natalie stopped by to visit us one morning and Jake told her about my letters, so I led her to Ashelyn's room and showed them to her. She says, "Wow, I had that same changing table.... but I changed the handles." I'm internally bowing my head in shame while saying, "Ya, I've been wanting to paint it." and right here folks is when I realize that I have the best sister in laws a girl could ask for. Nat made a very good point... "So paint it. If you hate it now, how much worse can it get?"

Well, holy smokes. Why didn't I think of it THAT way!?

So you can bet your bums I went and did that RIGHT away.


And the projects continue....

While we waited for Daddy to finish the CT70, we played at Gramma & Grampa Doan's. It was such a beautiful day to be outside!
