At the Sushi Restaurant...
1. "There sure are a lot of green things on the menu."
2. "You know how I love deep fried banana."
3. "Oh, you want this one....It's got eel on top."
4. "It's like an art form."
5. "That girl is spookin' me out... is she staring or is it just me?"
6. "You're like a kid in a candy store."

Jake tried really hard to be brave and nearly tried a california roll.
Then he said...
Then he said...
7. "I just can't do it, you won't be mad right???"
No, love... more Sushi for me!
Don't worry... He didn't starve. We went to Sonic and he got himself a corndog.

Jade is home! Hooray and thanks to everyone who fasted and prayed with us.
I just thought you'd like to know that Jade posted the whole crazy story on her blog so cruise over there if you'd like to know all the details.

At play group yesterday, we went to the Jesse James Park. Which is probably the coolest park EVER. It was a new discovery for us and Gid dug it up. Although he did take quite a spill that landed him with a little goose egg on his face, it spooked him more than anything.
We had loads of fun.
We had loads of fun.
There's this cool spider web-like thing to climb around in.
Of course once everyone else got there I was too busy talking to snap any pictures, but I promise other people do show up and it's not just us having a play-day by ourselves. After a few hours at the park we were all famished so we hauled the gang up the road for some fine cusine....
Mmmm.. McD's. I'm pretty sure Chicken Nuggets were had by all.
Thanks again for the fun girls!
So my great/ wonderful/ fantastic/ super-awesome cousin Genie (aka Jeannette or Jeni by some of you freaks out there) got home from her mission to Ukraine late Tuesday night. Of course her flight was early and we got caught waiting in line at Sonic for about 2 years so we were just a teensy bit late getting to the old airport. But she was still there!
She met Ashelyn. I wouldn't really say Ashe met her yet though seeing as she was asleep the whole time.
I was ridiculously excited. I know, it's not obvious at all or anything.
Hooray that my pal is home! (for a while anyways *cough cough*)
I've had quite a few people who have asked questions about Jade & baby TJ so I thought I'd let everyone know a little bit more...
Jade got some type of rapid onset eclampsia. Her blood pressure spiked and her liver wasn't functioning properly and was causing a lot of pain. So, she was admitted to the hospital and put on medication to try to lower her blood pressure and also to induce labor. From what I understand the only cure for what was going on was to have the baby.
So, TJ was born yesterday evening around 10:30. He weighs 3 lbs 13 oz and Jade told me the nurses said he's the biggest 30 wk preemie they've ever seen. He's doing really well in the NICU and is even breathing entirely on his own already. They expect him to stay in the NICU for a month more or less.
Jade said she isn't having any more pain but that her tests still aren't where they need to be and the next 48 hours could be hard ones so they could still use lots of prayers on their behalf.
Here's the only picture I have of TJ... lookin' pretty good, huh?

Ashelyn will be 3 months old on friday. Where on earth did the time go? Did I just blink my eye and miss it? She has so much personality now. Her eyes are beautiful and expressive. She's so chubby and squishy. She giggles, smiles, rolls, scoots, and is trying to learn to sit up. When I pick her up after nap time, she smiles and coos as if to say "thanks momma." She's a snuggler and wants to be the center of everyone's attention.
She wants to suck her thumb sooooo bad. I work really hard trying to not let it happen, but what to do for a girl with no interest in binkies? Plus, she's stubborn and doesn't seem to mind putting her hand right back in her mouth when I take it away.
Alright, so keep up with this okay...
So, from Josh & Amanda's blog, I often check out how her sister Allie & little Zack are doing....
from their blog I'm reading about another couple that has had their little girl in the NICU with them that they've gotten to know, so I cruise over to their blog.
and come to find out this guy Ryan's brother (I think)... is Brady that I worked with at the Buckle when I lived in Utah...
Now how's that for a blog stalking story huh?!

First and foremost a HUGE congrats to Jade & Tim. After some scary circumstances, Timothy James Ranagan arrived weighing 3 lbs. 13 oz., 9 1/2 weeks early. You were in our prayers, we love you, and can't wait to see you and little TJ!!!
On a little side note:
On a little side note:
Jake took this while we were driving home Saturday. For such a rainy-yucky day, it sure ended with a GORGEOUS sunset. Anyways... Thought I'd take a minute to share some thought.
Yesterday during sacrament meeting, one of the talks really hit home for me. The talk was about sharing talents, but more specifically recognizing and appreciating the talents we've been given so that we can share them. She talked about how so many people really don't recognize the gifts that have been given. She said something along the lines of this about herself, "I can paint a mural on a wall, but I can't just paint it white. I can sew beautiful quilts, but I can't clean a house." She then shared a quote from Atlas Shrugged.
"All work is creative work when done with a thinking mind."-Ayn Rand
I loved that. I've read the book and I remembered that she was talking about how all the work we do is valuable and can be considered a talent if we use our mind to find ways to do it better, or more efficiently, or in a more enjoyable way. Lately I've been feeling like I don't really have very many talents that are "valuable" but this talk really opened my eyes. So for my benefit, I thought I'd take some time to list some things that I know I'm good at or that I value about myself.

- I'm a great mom. I love my kids more than anything and pretty much nothing else matters to me as long as they're happy.
- I can cook and I love to cook
- I can keep a clean house. I don't love to do it, but I can't function if it's not done.
- I have a great sense of direction and rarely get lost.
- I'm a great organizer (even if I don't always choose to organize.)
- I'm a fast reader.
- I'm strong-willed.
- I can paint. Nothing is more relaxing to me than a blank canvas with no agenda. Something just for me to create whatever I want.
- I'm a whiz at Sudoku puzzles and math in general.
- My brain is FILLED with tons of useless trivia. Which is a great skill to have when playing that Trivia game at Dave & Busters and your husband wants to win a Fart Machine. :o)
- I know the rules of football and LOVE to watch.
- I have a very eclectic taste in music.
- I love to dance.
- I don't hold grudges.
- I'm well read.
- I become a better wife everyday.
- I don't watch movies like a normal person. Most of the time I pay more attention to the way it was filmed than the actual story.
- I'm great a doing little girls' hair and can't wait until Ashelyn actually has enough to do.
- I'm emotional. Jake might tell you that's a bad thing, but most of the time I like it. I'm affected by the world and how things happen, how people treat each other or me, and by major sleep deprivation. I think it lets me stay productive.
- I'm a happy person. I love to laugh and try to see the positive in things even when it's hard.
- I'm impatient.
- I'm not good at keeping in touch.
- I'm easily annoyed and I don't even hide it
- I'm forgetful.
- I stress out.
- I shop too much.
- I hate to exercise.
- If we had a Wii or Rockband in our house, I would be useless.
- I'm kind of a wuss.
- I hate doing the dishes and cleaning bathrooms.
- I'm stubborn.
Today was soooooo rainy. Well, still is soooo rainy. I love a rainy day to sit and veg out with a good book and play with the kiddos. So this morning I was missing my hubby, wishing he was home being lazy with us. Well about that time... much to my surpise, I see him pull in the driveway! HOORAY!! They're working at a school right now, and apparently the stuff they're working on now can't be done while the students are there, so they got to come home early today!!
(He does have to go put time in on Saturday though... )
Anyways, Jake wanted Gid to have something fun to do so he stopped and bought Hungry-Hungry Hippos.
I forgot how GREAT that game was...
Yesterday morning, we went over to my friend Laura's house for a play date with her & her little girl Abbie and Rachel & her two boys. It was so fun and I'm so glad Laura finally took the initiative to get all of us girls out of the house at least once a week! Thanks Laura!
Anyways, afterwards Gideon was hungry so I ran home made a little lunch to go and we headed to the park!
Lovin' the swings.... He had to swing in both of them right after each other just in case they weren't quite the same.

Mr. Independent.
He was up and down the slide I don't know how many times. I just got to sit back and watch.
He did NOT want my help. He's big you know...

Ashelyn pretty much just hung out with me on the park bench. She just sat and giggled and played with this awesome mobile thing I snagged from Sarah.
Ya, that's my hubby... he's adorable.
Miss Katie helping Gid. Gideon was a mad-man on his trike. He was all over those ramps!
The "readers." Amanda, Jenny, & Seth. Ron was just resting that injured arm of his. These are all the "Doan" grand kids... It was so fun to see everyone together and we're so excited that there's going to be two new little ones added to the group soon!!!

Is this not hilarious?!?!?! So it all started when Gid poured root beer all down his shirt. He got annoyed that his shirt was all wet, so Jake took it off for him. And somehow... without any provocation at all he decides to pole dance. Don't get me wrong, once he started we kept it going so I could snap some pictures... Good times eh?!
Ashelyn is getting big WAY too fast. Right now she's loving to hang out in the Johnny Jump Up. She hasn't quite figured out how to do anything but turn in circles, but it still fun to see her get excited. She giggles all the time and has quite the little attitude. She wants to be big and will actually scoot herself around a bit if you leave her on her back too long.
She pretty much skipped right over fitting in 3 month clothes (even though she's not 3 months old yet.) She's not as rolly around the middle as Gideon was, but she's just so dang TALL! I got her an adorable pair of 6 mo. jeans and they're barely long enough but too big around.... I have a feeling she has a lifetime full of pants frustrations ahead. At least she has a momma who can sympathize!
Gideon wants to play with her so bad and continues to try to be helpful. He's actually figured out the bottle thing now which can come in handy!
